Profiting in High Fashion

$100K, in 4 months - with social media marketing.

The owner came to ReSpark wanting to do something in the fashion niche - and had some experience in it too. He had designed Print on Demand tees, hats, totes, and even intimates but nothing took off, the margins were very poor and the ads - even though they were generating sales - were not very profitable at all.

With this request - we wanted to create something that fit the niche of choice but also gave our client a competitive advantage and that is exactly why we offered this product: sunglasses.

1. It's CHEAP to make.
2. It's CHEAP to ship.
3. It's LOW RISK.

and the competitive advantage - we got in touch with local prescription labs and began working with them. Now IF customers had or needed prescription lenses we could get them their exact prescription. That is something that only a set few premium eyewear companies are able to offer. We were able to offer it for free. No monthly costs, no subscriptions.

The SALES came because we used social media ads and influencer marketing. But it didn't start like that. Our first sales actually came from ETSY! We sold these sunglasses as gifts and got 5 customers to leave us feedback - all 5 stars. That told us there is a market for customization in the niche, and that the product is good - validating our supplier choice.

We then felt more confident moving into paid ads, and even selecting influencers to send our products out to in order to get infront of thousands of prospective buyers - many of them becoming followers on social media!

ADS are a bit misleading though. A lot of sales actually come from the email list we've generated over time! So - when Winter rolls around and the brand plans a new release - email shoutout letters are sent out carrying pre-order discount codes that sell out almost immediately, before the store has the glasses at all.
Oh and.... VERY important. We built the whole site, got models, did the product photography - made it look like a legit premium eyewear brand.

... and we sent out some products to get customer pics, loading over 100 customer reviews. That's absolutely a KEY feature of communicating trust to new customers.
